Alexander “Alex” Underhill
Instructor
The first time Alex was handed a pistol at the young age of 7, it was love at first sight. From that point onward his every effort went to understanding where they came from, how they worked, but most importantly how to shoot them. After his first range visit at 13 with his father, also a longtime pistol shooter, Alex and his father enjoyed many outings to the range as well as Deer and Hog hunting throughout Texas.
Under the exacting eye of his father, Alex became proficient in the fundamentals of marksmanship. As he became an adult, he attended various tactical courses and competitions where he acquired a proficiency with a wide variety of firearms and methods of use. This varied from covert carry of firearms, deployment of ad hoc weapons, working in and around vehicles, and protecting key personnel.
After feeling unsatisfied with careers in various industries that ranged from Courier logistics & coordination to the medical industry, Alex began a career in the firearms industry and has spent the last 3 years working with Gunmag warehouse LLC, in Dallas, Texas.
For Alex, being an Instructor at UBM is all about giving back to the community that made him, and making a difference in the shooting world through applied excellence
Jacob "Jake" Brewster
Instructor
The “B” in UBM, Jake grew up in the Dallas/Fort Worth area and developed a fascination with firearms very early in life. Starting with duck hunting trips in south Texas with his grandfather at a young age, then .22 rifles with the Boy Scouts, Jake has spent most of his life now as a shooter and maintains a passion for shooting.
Jake earned his associate’s degree from the Community College of Denver, and spent his time in the Rockies honing his firearms skill and knowledge, beginning a career in the firearms industry in 2021 as a sales specialist for Bighorn Firearms, where he quickly proved his worth as a wealth of firearms knowledge, eventually rising to the role of online sales manager before his departure in 2024.
In 2024, Jake felt the calling to come home and accepted a position with the firearm manufacturer “Staccato”, based in Florence, TX where he currently resides and works as a shipping/receiving operations specialist for the online retail sales team at Staccato.
Jake offers a several years' worth of experience in mechanical firearm operation, competitive shooting, and defensive firearm applications, and is accredited with multiple NRA Instructor Certifications.
Ain "Ian" Mumm
Lead Instructor
Ain Mumm is a dynamic and forward-thinking professional known for blending creativity with strategic insight. Has a strong foundation in Law Enforcement and Security industry with all the varieties it provides.
With over 15 years of global experience in high-risk security, intelligence, and strategic operations, “Ian” Ain Mumm is a seasoned security expert who has operated at the highest levels of trust and responsibility. From protecting heads of state from various countries and EU leaders to coordinating international missions in complex environments like Iraq, Somalia and Angola, “Ian” brings unmatched expertise in weapon training, operational planning, risk mitigation, and leadership under pressure.
Most recently serving as Chief Inspector at the Estonian National Criminal Police, Ian oversaw close protection for high-profile political figures including the Estonian Prime Minister and the President. His prior roles have ranged from diplomatic security for EU delegations across the World.
Ian holds a Bachelor’s degree from the Estonian Academy of Security Sciences in Police Studies and has completed numerous advanced tactical shooting, medical, and protective courses, including TCCC/TECC, EMT, evasive driving, waterborne rescue and many more during his career.
Ian is not only a strategic specialist and leader but also a dedicated educator, mentor in security and risk management. His interests in psychology, languages, and elite physical disciplines such as Greco-Roman wrestling and shooting reflect his commitment to discipline, focus, and continuous learning.
